Large-scale solar farm inspection has traditionally been a labor-intensive process. Manual ground-based inspection of hundreds of thousands of modules is slow, dangerous, and prone to missed defects. UAV-based EL inspection is changing this paradigm.

The Challenge

A typical 100MW solar farm contains over 300,000 individual modules. Manual nighttime EL inspection could take months to complete. Meanwhile, defective modules silently reduce energy yield.

Our Approach

The SC-DEL-Drone mounts a daylight EL detection system on the DJI Matrice 400 platform, enabling daytime operation, 55-minute flight time, 50 micrometer crack detection, and automated flight paths for consistent coverage.

Results

Compared to traditional ground-based inspection, drone EL inspection achieves 10x faster coverage, zero worker safety incidents, comprehensive defect mapping with GPS coordinates, and actionable maintenance reports within hours.
